Worst foods for prostate health:

-Soy products like tofu and soy milk.
-Cow’s dairy – including cow cheese, milk, yogurt, or ice cream.
The reason is that they contain Lactose sugar which can lead to an insulin spike that might be linked to cancer cell growth in the prostate gland.
-Processed foods such as lunch meats and hot dogs. You should also avoid any meat with preservatives (nitrates) if you’re really looking for preventative measures against prostate cancer. Your best bet would be cutting out these high-risk foods altogether from your diet while incorporating more fruits and vegetables into your daily life.”

They found out that lycopene prevented prostate and breast cancer cell growth at concentrations of <1.25 uM. Thus, the cancer inhibitory effects of lycopene are at achievable lycopene concentrations.
Edward Giovannucci, 2002, carried out a review of epidemiological studies of tomatoes, lycopene, and prostate cancer. The researchers found out that most studies reported the correlation between regular consumption of foods rich in lycopene and risk reduction of total prostate cancer.

D S Michaud and colleagues, 2000, examined the relationship between the risk of lung cancer and intake of alpha-carotene, beta-cryptoxanthin, beta carotene, lutein, and lycopene. They found out that many carotenoids including lycopene reduced the risk of cancer. Mind you, lycopene is a non-provitamin A carotenoid and is abundant in watermelons.
Some studies have proven that regular consumption of fruits and vegetables not only boosts your immune system and reduces your risk of diabetes, and heart disease, but more so, lowers your risk of certain cancers.
Recent studies have shown that regular intake of foods and drinks rich in lycopene such as tomatoes and watermelon may significantly reduce your risk of prostate cancer.
Ping Chen and colleagues, 2015, carried out a systematic review and meta-analysis of published literature about the relationship between lycopene and the risk of prostate cancer. They found out that significantly high blood levels of lycopene achieved through eating foods rich in lycopene resulted in a very low risk of prostate cancer.
Side effects of eating watermelon:
Although watermelon has so many health benefits including preventing and treating prostate cancer and many other types of cancer, if you eat too much of it, you will suffer from the side effects.
Side effects of eating too much watermelon include:
-nausea, dizziness, and low blood pressure;
-flushing due to the high level of lycopene in watermelons;
Do the following for prevention: have regular checkups with your doctors; avoid smoking or being around smokers; maintain an active lifestyle by exercising regularly.
The most important thing that we all need to remember about any type of cancer is early detection saves lives! You should get screened at least once every year if not more often depending on how old you are, your lifestyle, your diet, if or not a member of your family line had or has cancer, and also if you are of African American heritage.
The best defense against prostate cancer may be to eat lots of antioxidant-rich foods such as fruits, and vegetables.
